Direct TV Savings

December 6th, 2006 at 03:42 am

I had a question about my Direct TV bill, so I called up a rep. Turns out I'm an "A-List Customer" (oh yeah!), so I'm entitled to $15/month off my bill for the next 6 months, as well as a new DVR receiver (read TIVO) to replace one of my existing receivers. The cost of the receiver and the installation is free with a 1-year commitment. Well that's a no-brainer...I just scored a $15 discount for 6 months, and hubby would NEVER give up Direct TV, if for the football package alone! So they're coming the day after Christmas to install my new receiver.

So that's 2 bills reduced (Direct TV and PSE&G gas), and 1 bill (electric) staying the same.

Finalized November numbers and got up-to-date on December, so I can start looking at how the year is shaking out and plan my goals for 2007. I'll have to go back and reread some of my entries from this past January to see how I've done.

Does A list = we better give you a discount cause we haven't yet and if we don't she might leave?

Do these Direct TV promotions seem confusing to anyone else? Can anyone who has had Direct TV for a while comment on whether or not they actually understand the stuff they get in the mail or if any of it has been useful?

Another question, Direct TV gets alot of mixed reviews in the blogs I have seen. Why do some people hate it so much, and what makes them switch to cable after they have invested themselves in perching a dish on their house and getting a long term plan?

"Do these Direct TV promotions seem confusing to anyone else?" Yes the seem very confusing to me. Did you know to get your full New Customer promotion with DIRECTV, you have to: 1. Order online or submit an online rebate application. 2. Agree to receive marketing e-mails. 3. Wait 6-8 weeks from startup. Seems like a lot of extra work just to get your promotion. I work at DISH Network and you will get your promotion from when you sign up and won't have to jump through all these hoops. Check out DISH.com for more information.
