New Chase Bank Bonus

January 20th, 2006 at 08:00 am

I found my next bank bonus. (Actually, it found me!). Chase is opening a new branch in the next town over. They mailed out coupons for different bonuses based on the type of account you open. The one I'm likely to open is a checking account, free with direct deposit. The normal bonus for this account is $50, but if you open the account during a particular 2-week period in February, they'll double it, for a $100 bonus. Minimum deposit is $100, and you need to leave the account open for 6 months. The great thing about Chase is that they allow one cash bonus per customer per calendar year, so I can take advantage of this, even though I already got bonuses from them in 2005. Last year, I also got a $100 bonus from a local branch opening and about 6 weeks later, they sent me an offer for $50 or $75 to open a savings account. Hopefully, they'll do the same thing here! For those of you interested in taking advantage of bank bonus offers, your local newspaper and "junk mail" are great sources for offers like these.

How many direct deposits do you have to spread around?

To avoid the monthly $6 service charge, Chase requires a direct deposit during each statement month. (My month runs from the 22nd to the 21st.) My paycheck normally goes in on the last day of the month, but due to the Christmas holiday, I got paid on December 21st, which gave me two direct deposits on my December statement. On my January statement I got charged $6 for not having a direct deposit. I called and got the charge reversed, but I don't think they'd reverse it six months in a row.

It will be interesting to see if these banks continue to allow you bonuses for opening all these short-term accounts. (I think the banks run your info through a banking database to see if you're a bad risk before opening your account.) Please keep us posted.

Does anyone have the code required to recieve $100 bonus from Chase? I recently moved and misplaced the coupon. The manager at Chase Bank would not help me locate the code required to receive the bonus. He said if I find it, I can call back within 3 weeks to get the offer. Other employees there said they would try to find the code but the manager refuses to help me. Can someone help me?

    Thanks,
    -M

The bonus idea is really nice if you can receive one. I would like to know if you received free checks with you free checking account with a direct deposit. I found that absolutely misleading, Free checking with a direct deposit. My initial account had free checks with my checking account but when I relocated and had to open a new account. Don't ask me why I had to open a new account within the same bank for a different city. Anyway, I no longer get free checks. I found that out when the bank sent me checks with new address and charged me a fee. Also, my initial checking account was opened less than a month before I relocated. The bank rep said she knows nothing about the free checks with direct deposit checking account. I seriously doubt the same bank would different bank offers in different states. All in all, I am very disappointed with Chase bank.

I just opened a new account with Chase with an unsual bonus offer of $200! Same direct deposit and 6 month account activation required. I've seen offers in the past for 50 or 100, but 200 grabbed my attention.

I just opened an account with Chase 2.13.2008 and gained from them $100 in just ten days matching my initial deposit of just $100.00 and got free checking, but the checks cost money. I must maintain $300 to keep things on an even kilter and also must make a direct deposit from any paycheck each month of any amount. I elected to have about $82.00 deposited every other week and will use the Chase account money only when I need cash from an ATM, they have a vast ATM network in my area of the world. My main bank is a small regional bank with limited ATM's but
is a good place to bank when living in this small town. I recommend it to anyone. I totally missed the $200 deal and wonder how? David H Werdine

I work for Chase and we rarely send out the $200 offers. One out of two hundred households may receive it but the fifty sevetny five and one hundred dollar offers are popular. the acct just requires one dd per mth and has to be opened for at least six mths but u get ur bonus in 7 days or so. its a great bank so those that get the two hundred r lucky
